Det uppt\u00e4ckte man i Nya Zeeland efter flera \u00e5r av noggranna studier genom observationer, ljudupptagningar och kodning av l\u00e4rprocessen i klassrummet (Nuthall 2005\/07). Studierna visade att eleverna f\u00f6rv\u00e5nansv\u00e4rt s\u00e4llan l\u00e4rde sig n\u00e5got i klassrummet och det h\u00e4nde ocks\u00e5 att missf\u00f6rst\u00e5nd kom att spridas. Hur undervisningen organiserades var och \u00e4r utslagsgivande menade d\u00e4rf\u00f6r Nuthall som ville se l\u00e4raren som en tankel\u00e4sare. N\u00e5gon som st\u00e4ller sig fr\u00e5gorna: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Vad kan eleverna? <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vad har de f\u00f6rst\u00e5tt? <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vad t\u00e4nker de egentligen?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Den engagerade l\u00e4raren vill n\u00e5 varje elev. Att solens v\u00e4rme f\u00e5r vattnet att dunsta. Att molnen som stiger \u00e5ter f\u00e5r vattnet att falla till jorden osv. B\u00e5de fysik, kemi, biologi och geografi bidrar till f\u00f6rst\u00e5elsen av denna v\u00e5r v\u00e4rld. H\u00e4r har man ocks\u00e5 sjungit f\u00f6r att \u00f6ka f\u00f6rm\u00e5gan att memorera och f\u00f6rst\u00e5. Intresse f\u00f6r kretsloppet har vi b\u00e4ddat f\u00f6r redan i f\u00f6rskoleklass p\u00e5 den h\u00e4r skolan just av den anledning att f\u00f6rkunskap kan bidra till motivation. Att introducera kretsloppet i F blir d\u00e4rmed ett s\u00e4tt att arbeta kompensatoriskt. Om elever k\u00e4nner igen sig vill de bygga vidare p\u00e5 sina kunskaper. De blir mer aktiva. Detaljrikedom och f\u00e4rgl\u00e4ggning vittnar om en undervisning d\u00e4r de f\u00e5tt feedback och uppmuntran att arbeta igenom b\u00e5de inneh\u00e5ll och form. Det \u00e4r ett positivt tecken d\u00e5 elever som l\u00e4r sig att arbeta mot h\u00f6g kvalitet i sitt l\u00e4rande ofta vill forts\u00e4tta med det (Berger 2003).
