I Svandammsparken, mitt \u00f6ver gatan fr\u00e5n skolan, v\u00e4xer fina nypon som vi hj\u00e4lptes \u00e5t att plocka. Alla vill s\u00e5 g\u00e4rna vara med och l\u00e4gga upp b\u00e4ren och allas blickar riktades nu mot bokst\u00e4verna som v\u00e4xte fram. P\u00e5 s\u00e5 vis &#8221;n\u00f6ter vi in&#8221; bokst\u00e4verna i allas medvetande. S\u00e5 sm\u00e5ningom var b\u00e5de lilla och stora N t\u00e4ckta av nypon. Nu bad jag barnen gissa\/uppskatta hur m\u00e5nga nypon det fanns i stora N. Barnen hade flera id\u00e9er. Allt ifr\u00e5n 100 000 till 30 st nypon. De f\u00f6ljde med sp\u00e4nd f\u00f6rv\u00e4ntan mina anteckningar p\u00e5 tavlan. Nu var det dags att kontrollera ungef\u00e4r hur m\u00e5nga nypon det faktiskt r\u00f6rde sig om. Hur skulle vi g\u00f6ra det? Jo vi r\u00e4knade hur mycket plats 10 nypon tog och sedan r\u00e4knade vi hur m\u00e5nga s\u00e5dana rutor det kunde f\u00e5 plats i bokstavens &#8221;area&#8221;. Att det var 140 var det en elev som f\u00f6rklarade. Detta faktum kanske inte alla barn f\u00f6rst\u00e5r i det h\u00e4r l\u00e4get. Men vi t\u00e4nker att det gemensamma samtalet \u00e4r n\u00e5got de kan l\u00e4ra av. Det \u00e4r ocks\u00e5 viktigt att f\u00f6rs\u00f6ka stimulera barn p\u00e5 alla niv\u00e5er och d\u00e5 f\u00f6rs\u00f6ker vi blanda enkla fr\u00e5gor med mera komplicerade fr\u00e5gor. P\u00e5 det h\u00e4r viset ger vi dem en ocks\u00e5 en f\u00f6rf\u00f6rst\u00e5else f\u00f6r matematiken som kommer senare. D\u00e5 vi anv\u00e4nder konkret material (h\u00e4r nypon) h\u00e5ller vi oss samtidigt p\u00e5 en niv\u00e5 d\u00e4r alla f\u00f6rst\u00e5r vad som p\u00e5g\u00e5r vilket g\u00f6r att de kan uppr\u00e4tth\u00e5lla koncentrationen.
