Stavarna h\u00e4llde hon ut p\u00e5 golvet p\u00e5 andra sidan idrottssalen. N\u00e4r f\u00f6rsta man h\u00e4mtat sina stavar och l\u00e4mnat dem hos laget blev det dags f\u00f6r n\u00e4ste man. S\u00e5 samlade vi kaplastavar p\u00e5 h\u00f6g. N\u00e4r alla stavar var slut satte sig lagen ned f\u00f6r att r\u00e4kna sina stavar. Och nu var det ganska m\u00e5nga stavar. Och alla barn b\u00f6rjade r\u00e4kna olika delar sina h\u00f6gar. P\u00e5 s\u00e5 s\u00e4tt fick vi \u00f6verblick och det blev l\u00e4tt att kontrollr\u00e4kna. Och s\u00e5 fick vi m\u00f6jlighet att r\u00e4kna med tiotal igen. Och kaplastavarna blev v\u00e5rt laborativa material.<\/p>\n<p>Att p\u00e5 det h\u00e4r s\u00e4ttet arbeta med praktiskt material inom matematikundervisningen \u00e4r ett s\u00e4tt att g\u00f6ra matematiken verklig. I Piag\u00e9ts begreppsv\u00e4rld omtalas detta som ett s\u00e4tt att ge barn \u201dinre bilder\u201d av matematiska begrepp (Malmer 2010).
